How the Test Works

You can choose from two versions of the KnowYourCat Genetic & Breed Test:

• Starter
• Advanced

When you order the KnowYourCat Genetic & Breed Test, you will receive a sample collection kit that contains all the materials needed to collect a DNA sample from your cat using a buccal swab. Please follow the instructions provided in the kit to ensure the sample’s validity.

Once you’ve collected the sample, simply send it back to the laboratory using the prepaid envelope included in the kit. Upon receiving your sample, the laboratory will conduct the tests based on the version of the KnowYourCat Genetic & Breed Test you selected.

The results will be available online within 4-6 weeks after the laboratory receives your sample.
